The term dhanya dhara is taken from a combination of Sanskrit words ‘Dhanya’ and ‘Amla’ that means ‘cereal’ and ‘soured’ or ‘fermented’ respectively. Hence Dhanyamla dhara is the use of fermented cereals and even some other herbal medicines for the treatment of many ailments. Dhara means a stream and hence the term dhanyamla dhara means the pouring of fermented liquid of some cereals, or herbal medicines all over the body of the patient.
