General Information :
Habit – herbs with tuberous root stock. Root stock – Stout, short or elongate with fleshy root. Leaves- Usually sessile, 15 to 45 cm long, 1 to 2.5 cm wide, linear base is sheathing. Scape is short & flattened. Flowers – Bright yellow, distichous the lowest in the receme is bisexual upper ones are male. Bracts are Lanceolate, membranous. Fruits – Capsule, 1.3 cm long, 1 to 4 seeded with a slender beak. Seeds are oblong, black and shining.

Benefits:
Being deepana, anulomana and beneficial to the liver it is used in grahani, arsha and yakridvikara. In kasa and shvasa, both internally and with manahsheela for dhoomapana (Ch. Chi. 18/75); in shukrakshaya and klaibya beingvrishya; in mootrakrichchhra and pooyameha being mootrala and in samanyadaurbalya and karshya being balya and brimhana.
It improves complexion and reat skin diseases.
Vajikaranartha (Aphrodisiac)
Continuous usage of powder prepared from root tubers of Krisnamusali (Curculigoorchioides) mixed with ghee acts as best Vajikara (Aphrodisiac).
Powder of Ashwagandha,Shatavari,Kali musali in equal amount is taken with cow’s milk for a month for Rasayana purpose.Dose-5-10gm,twice a day.
To increase the sperm count,stamina and vigor ,Root powder of Kali mushali in a dose of 5-10gm is used.
To gain the weiht Kali musali root powder with milk is advisiable.
Mutraghata (Retention of urine)
Kwatha (Decoction) prepared from Talapatri (Curculigoorchiodes).
Hyperpigmentation
Kali musli paste with goat’s milk is applied.
For itches and skin diseases
The poultice of root is used.
The root powder of Kali musali is applied over bleeding area,wounds,acne and pimples.
In case of skin allergy ,leaves paste of kali musali is applied externally.
In case of swelling of glands,paste of roots is applied externally.
Piles
Application of root paste on pile mass gives relief in pain and burning sensation.
Cough, cold and asthma
The smoke produced from the roots is inhaled.
The powdered root of Curculigoorchioides is burnt and the smoke coming out is inhaled as part of treatment in respiratory diseases like cough, difficulty in respiration due to congestion of phlegm.
The fresh root of Talamuli is made into paste and applied over the place affected with skin diseases.
The juice of fresh roots is used to treat generalised weakness .Dose-1-2tsf,twice a day
Also powder of Kali musali (5gm)with milk is used to cure weakness.
Root powder of Kali musali (5gm)with Jaggery is advisiable in Leucorrhoea.
Leaves decoction of Kali musali is used to treat Respiratory tract disoders.Dose-30ml OD
Crushed root powder of Kali musali with milk is used in the treatment of Jaundice.

Curculigoorchioides was powdered and subjected to soxhlet extraction using methanol. Acute toxicity studies were performed by Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development OECD guidelines. Animals were treated with cyclophosphamide to induce neurotoxicity.
