General Information Of Kaidary:

Habit- small tree with dark grey bark. Leaves-Compound , imparipinnate, upto 30 cm long, leaflets are 11 to 25 in number, alternate, 2.5 cm long, 1 to 2.5 cm wide, obliquely ovate, acuminate, glabrous above, pubescent beneath, sprinkled with black dots, petiolules are very  short.Flowers- white in colour, petals are 6 mm long, gland- dotted. Fruit- ovoid or subglobose, 6 to 10 mm in diameter 2 seeded.

BenefitsOf Kaidary:

Decoction made from Kaidary leaves used for washing infected pile mass,eyes and during infection.

Decoction made from kaidary leaves used for sitz bath in peri anal ascess or infected anal fistula or hemorrhoids.

Curry leaf powder is mixed with honey is applied over the mouth ulcer for 2-3 days.It gives relief from stomatitis.

Paste of curry leaves with buttermilk is applied over the scalp with the gap of 1-2 days gives good relief from dandruff and head lice.

Paste of curry leaves with turmeric is applied over the lesions of acne.This paste is also applied in case of oily skin and dark circles.

TwakVikara (Skin Diseases )

Kalka (Paste) of kaidary (Murrayakoenigii ) is used in twakvikar.local application of paste of kaidarya is effective.

Chardi (Vomiting)

Leaves of Kaidary  is mixed with water and administered internally in case of Chardi (vomiting).

Madhumeha (Diabetes melitus)

Powder of kaidary is prepared., one spoon of powder is given internally two  times a day on empty stomach in case of Madhumeha (Diabetes Melitus).

Raktapittanut-Helps to relieve bleeding disoders because of its coolant nature.

Shothahara-Useful in inflammatory conditions and skin conditions with redness and pus

Twig of neem is especially beneficial in respiratory problems such as bronchitis,cough and cold.

Oil obtained from fruit of Kaidari is used in skin diseases and headache.(Sushruta)

Paste of 20gram of Curry leaves is made and this is soaked in 100ml f coconut oil for overnight.Next day equal quantity of water is added and cooked this till the complete evaporation of water.Filter this.This oil is used in premature greying of hairs.

Mix the 4tsf of curry leaf powder and 1 tsf of cardamom powder.Take the pinch of this mixture with cup oh hot water.This will helps in motion sickness,abominal bloating,indigestion and bad breath.

Hot infusion of Curry leaf powder (5gm) with 200l of water is made.This infusion on regular intake helps in reducing the body fat and decreasing the cholesterol.

Dosage Of Kaidary:

Kasaya – 50 to 60 ml.

Curna – 1 to 3g

Swarasa – 5 to 10 ml.

 

Research Corner Of Kaidary:

A Study designed to extract and examine chemical composition, antimicrobial and antioxidant activity of the hydrodistillated essential of Murrayakoenigii leaves. Major compounds detected in the oil were linalool (32.83%). Elemol(7.44%), Geranyl acetate (6.18%), Mycene (6.12%), allow Ocimene  (5.02), a-Terpine (4.90 %), (E) B-Ocimene (3.68%) and neryl acetate (3.45%). The oil has a maximum zone of inhibition ability against Corynebacterium tuberculosis, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Streptococcus pyogenes, Klebsiella pneumonia and Enterobacteraerogence.

 

Side Effects-

It can lower blood glucose levels as a general rule,hence it is avoided during fasting.

Some time hair oil made from neem,can cause burning ensation in eyes.
