Concept of IBS in Ayurveda

According to Sushruta  the sixth kala is known as Grahanidharakala or pittadharakala. Which covers the part of gastro-intestinal tract which extends from lower part of stomach (pyloric part) to ileocaecal junction. It’s main function is to hold solid and liquid foods which is propelled from amashaya and on its way to the pakvashaya, for the proper action of digestive juice upon it.

Pittadharakala function-

1) Digestion of food and

2) Absorption of digested substance.

The food which we take is diagested by jatharagni and converted in to diajestive juice which helps in body formation.

Due to mandagni food are not diadested properly which form apakvaahar rasa which is called as Ama.Thisama goes in to small channels causing stroto-avarodhi.e blockage of channels. And forming a disease called as Grahaniroga.
