Ayurvedic Ways to Fight Corona Virus

Coronavirus outbreak has brought the whole world to a halt. This is the first time in human history that a virulent strain has affected almost every country on the planet and brought life to a standstill. Although, there are effective measures available in Ayurveda that can protect us from getting infected by this infection, yet a lot remains to be researched. Let’s take a look at the facts and try to reduce the myths and unwanted fear surrounding this deadly virus.

What is Corona Virus?

The corona virus, also called as the SARS COV -2, originated in late 2019 from the food markets of the Wuhan province in southeast China. After rapidly spreading across the Chinese mainland the virus soon spread all over the globe, affecting people as far away as Asia, Europe, Africa and the US.

The Corona Virus causes an infectious disease called as COVID – 19, which is short for “Corona Virus Disease – 2019”. Till date, the COVID – 19 has affected over a million and has proven fatal for well over 10,000 people across the globe.

With the hype and fear being created across media outlets and social media platforms, there is a low chance of you contracting the disease, unless you have been in direct contact with someone suffering from it.

What are the Symptoms of Corona Virus Disease?

According to research, the COVID – 19 infection initially may not show any visible symptoms. It is believed that the virus may be present in the body without noticeable signs from 2 days to 2 weeks even.

  • Fever – A low grade fever which gradually increases in severity.
  • Cough – A sore throat and cough which increases in severity within days.
  • Breathing – Shortness of breath along with nasal congestion is also a valid symptom.
  • Aching – Constant headache and body pain are also reported as its symptoms.

  • Avoid Touching

Avoid touching your face (including nose, eyes, mouth) because if the virus is on your hands from contact this could cause it to enter your body from these orifices and infect you.  Avoid shaking hands and touching others, especially those who are sick, have a cough or are sneezing. Staying at least 6 feet away from seemingly healthy persons is also advised to prevent the virus from spreading.

  • Maintain Health and Hygiene

When coughing or sneezing, cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or your elbow to stop the virus from spreading out.

  • Practice Isolating yourself

Stay at home as much as possible. Avoid stepping out of the house as much as you can and also prevent gatherings of more than 5 people when outdoors to prevent its spread.

Not that all cough or flu symptoms indicate that you have Covid-19 infection; but cough and cold can give threaten your immune system, thus making you vulnerable to Covid-19 infection. Current research studies have shown that those with weaker immune systems, such as the elderly and the young ones are at more risk of being affected by the Corona Virus, but youth is too not invincible.
