Shalakya tantra is the special branch in Ayurveda which deals with the study of disease related to Eye,Ear,Nose and Head .It is one among the Ashtanga Ayurveda -8 branches.

It is also known as ‘Urdhwaanga Chikitsa (Urdhwananga means upper part of body and Chikitsa means treatment)

Netraroga—
In Ayurveda there are 76 types of netra rogas are explained by Acharya Sushruta.The classification of netra roga is based on different-different types of categories.

b.Classification of eye diseases based on their locations

c.Classification of eye disease based on the surgical treatment which is used to combat disease.
