Doshakarma-By its ushna –sigdha-guru guna ,it acts as Vatahara and Kapha-Pittakara

Functions-

लवणः स्थंभ संघात बंध विध्मापानो अग्निकृत /
स्नेहनः स्वेदन स्तीक्ष्णो स्छेद भेद कृत //अ हृ सु १०/१२

Kledana– Ushna-Teekshana-Sara gunas in Lavanarasa enhances different secretions in the body which provide wetness or moisture in that respective area .

Chyavana– It causes change in the osmolarity (Upasneha and Upasveda Nyaya) of the cell membrane by its ushna-teekshna and sara guna.Change in osmolarity results in reduction in Sandrata of the Dosha and liquefying the harboring Dosha to move out of the cell and mix into the circulating Rasa-Rakta complexs to be carried to the alimentary canal .After that it can be eliminated by appropriate Panchakarma.

Chhedana– vitiated Dosha are being cut or broken down or removed from the body by its Ushna- Teekshana guna . Lavanara does this action especially for Kaphadosha.

Bhedana-Tikshna –ushna guna of lavan rasa causes the breakdown of vitiated Dosha from different Srotas.Lavanarasa with Katurasa is used to expel or throw stuck or impacted waste material from the body .

Vikasi –To loose the bond between cells or tissues in very short time period and also to move Ojas from its place is called as Vikasi .In another words , meaning of Vikasi is given as ‘Kledanacchedana’ which means which removes wetness. According to some Vikasi is the highest potency of Tikshna guna.
Adhasransi-Ushna guna and kledan property of Lavanarasa helps to loosen Dosha from specific place to be removed from the body. Lavanarasa increases secretions in body.These secretions tend to travel in downwards direction due to gravitation.

.Avakashakara-Hallow space inside any structure is called as Avakash. Ushna tikshana guna of lavan rasa removes the accumulated doshas from Srotas which is obstructing the lumen.

Stambha-Bandha-Sanghata Vidhamana- Stambha means To stop the any movement instantly.Every movementsin body is performed by Vata. Any obstraction in Pathway of Vata dosha results in Sthambha.Ushna veerya of lavana rasa removes the obstruction and helps to regulate the speed of vata.
Sanghata i- Ushnaveerya , TeekshnaGuna it melts or breaks down accumulated dosha and to restore this to the normal space in that organ again.

Sarvarasapratyaneekabhuta – Other Rasa can not be perceived if the Lavanarasa is consumed first.

Aasyasrava– Ushna tikshna guna increases different secretions in the body
Kapha-vishyandana-Being Ushna-Teekshna Guna ,it helps to melt accumulated Kapha.

Marga-vishodhana-the word marga vishodhana means purification of Srotas. Ushna-Teekshna guna of Lavanarasa performs this action. This activity of Lavanarasa is useful in Shodhanakarma.

Mardavakara-Mruduguna – Lavanarasa melts or liquefis this Kapha by its Ushna-Teekshna Guna and increase in kapha dosha is responsible for kathinya.
Vishyandana – Lavanarasa is Snigdha-Ushna guna.So it pacifies Khara-Ruksha guna of Vata to make respective organ Mrudu or soft.If Snehan performed with Lavana then it carry out Snehana earlier.

Ahara-rochana– It provides proper taste to food. 17
Aharayogi-It is always used to prepare food .

Atiyoga of Lavan rasa-
Atiyoga of lavana rasa causes khalitya,palitya,(greying of hair and hair loss)vatarakta(gout),wrinckles,kushta,trushna(thirst),visarpa,increases the veg of poison and loss of strength.
